Loja is the Cultural and Music capitol of Ecuador. It has hardly been touched by outside influences. Loja has artists, musicians, actors, and real people. I started looking for a way to travel to another country several years ago. I researched Europe. I applied for and was hired as a teacher in the UAE (they changed their minds). I finally started looking at South America, first intending to teach for a couple of years. Then I decided what I really wanted was to move permanently to a place I could afford as a retiree. The best option I found was Ecuador. And the city Loja, capitol of Loja province, leapt out at me as the most wonderful part of Ecuador. Museums, parks, music, and festivals galore.
